• Hillcrest Welcomes New Board Member 02/23/2010

Hillcrest Educational Centers has elected John J. Martin, Jr., Esquire (ESQ), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to serve a three year term on its volunteer Board of Directors. Martin is a partner at Martin & Oliveira, LLP in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

"Hillcrest is fortunate to have John Martin join our Board of Directors," said Hillcrest CEO Gerard Burke. "John brings an extensive background of finance and corporate law to Hillcrest and has a history of helping children in Berkshire County."

Prior to joining his father's Pittsfield law practice in 1986, Martin was assistant vice president and audit manager for all Bank of New England subsidiaries.

Burke added, "Hillcrest's success is based in the strength and dedication of our board members and staff members at all levels of the organization. Year after year, I continue to be amazed at the dedication and commitment I see from our leaders who work so hard to be a part of shaping the future of this organization. Their leadership and service allow Hillcrest to grow and flourish. We couldn't do it without them."

Martin has served on several local boards including: Berkshire Community Action Council, Inc., Berkshire County Kids' Place, Pittsfield Family YMCA and the Pittsfield Catholic Schools. He currently serves on the boards of the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce and Pittsfield Cooperative Bank.

Martin serves on the Hillcrest Development, Finance & Investment and Audit committees. He and his wife Susan reside in Pittsfield with their three sons.
