December, 2008

The Alejandro Tree is a true story, inspired by the kindness of a child from Hillcrest Educational Centers. The story has already touched many people in the Berkshires and beyond and it's popularity is growing everyday. The book is now available in 50 stores and businesses throughout the Berkshires and is being given as a gift by friends, family members, business associates and as company gifts.
Each day, Hillcrest Educational Centers works with 180 kids from the Berkshires and New England. Each child has a traumatic life history like Alejandro is, some not as severe as his and sadly some much worse.

This year's annual blood drive yielded 74 usable units of blood, a new Hillcrest record! These units can potentially help or even save the lives of 222 people. One older donor, who is not a Hillcrest employee, said she came to donate again this year because, "...When I came to donate last year, it was such a positive experience I looked forward to coming back again. It's great to see all these fine young people, who are already doing so much for the children, also contributing to the community in this way and with such spirit. It gives me hope for the world and for the future."
